Elizabeth Redmond

26 years, United States, Energy Innovator
Bio:

Elizabeth Redmond is a self proclaimed designtrepreneur in the clean energy field. In 2005, she started a project that would become known as POWERleap as her 4th year design thesis at University of Michigan. She went on to develop two working prototypes and become founder and President of POWERleap Inc. in 2008. POWERleap is an emerging clean-tech company that harvests energy from pedestrian and vehicular traffic to generate usable on-site electricity. She utilizes the phenomena of piezoelectricity to convert vibrations inherent in kinetic activity into electrical energy. As business travelers walk to their airport gate, runners jog down the sidewalk, club-goers grind on the dance floor, and commuters drive through the toll booth, her product harvests that activity to provide a clean source of electricity only to be used when needed.
