Benjamin Potts (a.k.a. Pottsy), is a Sea Shepherd activist and has helpd save the livs of thousands of whales with his organization. In 2008 he first volunteered with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, the radical marine conservation group, for an anti-whaling campaign against Japanese whalers in Antarctica. Becoming famous in that campaign as he and a fellow crewmate, Giles Lane from the UK, were asked and dutifully performed the boarding of a Japanese harpoon ship, called the Yushin Maru No. 2. They were taken hostage for two days by the whalers, but later released unharmed. Currently, Pottsy continues to work as crew for Sea Shepherd. Sea Shepherd recently gained a major victory last February when Japan’s whaling fleet ended their whaling season early after clashes with the activists.
